Drive It Like Hertz Owns It

May 7th, 2008 by Ben

So I’ve pretty much had my car serviced enough times for the Hertz guy to know me by face, and laugh when he sees me. Actually, I don’t know if he was laughing at me after he said hi or if it was because of the lady he was talking to at the time. In any case, I’ve grown close to my service rep at the dealership and he usually scores me a rental whenever my car is being worked on. Because I’ve had rentals so many times, I figured it was finally time I compiled a list of rentals I’ve had.

  1. 05 Honda Accord LX
  2. 05 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD
  3. 05 Honda Civic LX
  4. 04 (?) Hyundai Elantra
  5. 06 (?) Chevrolet Aveo Sedan
  6. 04 (?) Toyota Corolla
  7. 06 Honda Accord LX
  8. 07 Nissan Versa Sedan
  9. 08 Mazda Mazda3 4-Door

I can easily say the ones I fell in love with the most was the 05 Accord (first rental I had and I had it for a few days) and the Mazda3 (also have this one for a few days right now and the interior is very nice). The CR-V was fully loaded with everything imaginable, yet it just didn’t have the same appeal.

So occasionally my roommate and I go out to a field with a bucket of balls and bats and throw/hit. I usually pitch and he usually bats because… well, I like to throw things and he likes to hit things. We haven’t done it that much this year so last Sunday was the first time we went in a long time, probably since a year ago. Seeing as how we’ve both had our fair share of sprains and injuries the past year (he managed to have both ankles sprained at the same time and resprained them as well but those comical stories are for another time), we figured somehow we’d be limping off the field by the time we were done. So I got warmed up (not really, it was only like 10 tosses) and said I was good to go. Before I actually threw my first pitch, I told him to step out of the batter’s box and I’d just throw one because it’s been so long. The pitch was WAY high hitting the backstop (at least it made it that far) and I said I was ready. He reluctantly looked at me… looked at where the ball hit the backstop… put on a helmet and said ok. So on approximately the 4th pitch, it came straight up the middle. It was a line drive to my left knee. In case you’ve ever wondered, yes, it hurts. I was down on the mound for a good few minutes and he said, “I think we’re done for the day.” Well, one out of two limping home ain’t bad…

So you’re telling me… there is no hope?

So I’m keeping up with my promise to write a blog entry (after much prodding, might I add although it also might have something to do with seeing enough losing by the Cavs and Rockets for one day). In any case, I was looking around the internet last night and stumbled across this site: http://www.asian-central.com/stuffasianpeoplelike. I started to read through a couple of the posts and they were somewhat realistic/funny. The points are probably easier to see if the reader is from an Asian family though (most of it seems to apply very well to the Chinese). If you get a chance to read some of the posts on it, it’s a good way to kill time; at least that’s what I did at work today. Anyway, what really caught my eye (and is the point of my post) was post #40. Ouch… the last paragraph especially. Alright, so maybe I didn’t write that much and had someone else do my dirty work. Hey look at that, the Rockets are coming back…
